Located in the capital city of Imphal, Khonghampat Orchidarium is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Imphal. It is situated on NH-39; about 7 kilometers from Imphal. It is a popularly called the Orchid House.
 
It is spread over an area of about 200 acres of land with more than 120 varieties of exotic species of orchids. Orchid House is home to some rare species of flowers that resembles lizards, moths and bees. Orchids like Cymbidium and Cattleya orchids are the much adored ones along with some endangered species of orchids. Most of these species are rarely found in other parts of the world. The orchid is maintained by the Forest Department, Manipur.
 
Tourists, both national and international, visit the orchid in numbers and the best time to visit the orchid is April-May, when the blooming flowers offer a picturesque view and camouflages the visitors within its surreal beauty.

Imphal is a developing city and it offers a wide range of hotels for the tourists to stay. The Classic Grande and Classic Hotel are the two most popular hotels of Imphal where tourists can check in for a comfortable stay. Imphal can either be reached by air or through road. Train services in the state of Manipur are yet to start. Buses and cars are available from Guwahati in Assam and also from Dimapur in Nagaland.
