The biggest museum in North East India, Agartala

Known for its intricate ceilings, fountains and magnificent domes, Ujjayanta Palace in itselfis a 'magnificent' piece of architecture. It is located in the state capital 'Agartala'. It was previously an imperial palace until 2011. It is now a meeting place of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
 
It stands as the biggest museum in North East India. It is the core of a large action research and cultural activity center. It act as the bridge in linking various tribes, religious beliefs, traditions, heritage and culture. The museum portrays lifestyle of  different ethnic groups.It showcases the important flora and fauna, major festivals, maps of Tripura, religious sites, 14 gods, 20 species of bamboo, stuffed animals etc. Do not forget to hire a translator cum guide to save you a lot of time because by the time you reach the 1st floor you will be tired. This is one of the most well maintained museum in the whole country. It contains in it's within the whole story of the land of Tripura showcased in 16 gallaries of various sections.
 
The Palace stands on the banks of a small lake surrounded by the lush greenery of Mughal gardens in Agartala. It harbors a number of complex temples of Lakshmi-Narayan, Kali-Jagannath. The current drawer of this Palace is the Musical Spray and Dance of Fountains in melody of composition. With a very minimal fee you can enter the Palace. Though you can experience the beauty all year around but the best time to visit is October to March.
 
Built by Maharaja Maha Manikya the Palace suffered a massive blow in the 1897 June earthquake. It was then renovated into the Assembly, later turned into a museum. The tiled floors and carved front doors crafted by Chinese artisans make you feel like you have step in different era. With good motor able road, the place is easily accessible. The name of this palace was given by Rabindranath Tagore. When one stands in front of the white grandeur building, it  transports you to the ambiance of London.
