Chandrapur Mosque

Chandrapur  Mosque stands on a hillock in Rajnagar area. This medieval mosque is concealed from public view by trees, plants and bushes. It was found in the fateful year of 1992 when the Babri Maszid was destroyed  at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. The mosque was built by the  commander in chief of Mughal army when they invaded Tripura in the year 1618 during the reign of king Yashodhar Manikya
 
The mosque over looks the plains of Bangladesh and Tripura from a hillock. It was restored by an initiative of the state government and a ‘Solidarity Fair’ was held on 6th December the day 'Babri Maszid' was destroyed. The fair has been a major event in its cultural calendar since then. It attracts a number of devotees and also tourists irrespective of religion and tribe.
 
Standing boldly crowning the hillock, the Chandrapur Mosque brings forth the scenic beauty. It is designed in Mughal style of architecture with three dome like structure highlights the ceiling. It is a perfect place to get connected with nature. Going up on the hillock will rejuvinate both your mind and soul.
 
Located at a distance of  135 Km. from Agartala and 30 Km. from Belonia, the temple is open the whole year. If you want to stay near the mosque then you may get accommodation  though not of very high class, you may find hotels, which may be convenient and comfortable for you. The nearest airport being situated at Agartala, you have to reach Belonia, from where you can fetch a bus or to reach the temple. If you are traveling by train, the nearest rail head is Kumarghat on N. E. Railway. NH 44 connects the state with many north eastern states by road. It is also connected by regular bus services with all sub-divisional towns of Tripura.
