Have you ever been to Mizoram? The tiny but hilly north eastern state remains festive with many tribal groups of colourful cultural traditions. They have a plenty of occasions to showcase their rich cultural heritage. The most striking festival that upkeeps their culture and tradition is Thalfavang Kut. The occasion that draws huge crowd of foreign and domestic tourists marks the weeding of the crop fields to make them suitable for harvesting operation.

The festival is agriculture based. But the people outside the farming fraternity share the joy of the annual event. The formalities and traditions of the festival centre around cultivation, which is staple source of socio-economic survival of the Mizo people atop the hills state. For these tribal people, the festival is an occasion to enjoy with the cultural events with songs, dances costumes and what not. It turns the entire north eastern state into a vibrant platform to be enjoyed with enthusiasm the colours of their lives. The mesmerizing dances include Cheraw, Sawlakai, Siktuithiang lam and Chheihlam which draw no less applause from the tourists.
 
The part and parcel of the autumnal event is the feasts to be completely engross in. Moreover, it provides no less scope to the tribal people in the far flung spheres of the state to display their rich and age old cultural characteristics. This cultural events, beyond doubt prove that the entire tribal state is full of talents waiting to be honoured.

Now it is more an event of the cultural heritage and less of the cultivation-related activities. Basically, it is a congenial season to be prepared for the next harvest. Otherwise, it depicts the cultural heritage of Mizoram which culminates the traditional games of the Mizos. It also provides the tribal people in the land of bamboo dances a platform to strengthen the social ties.

Hemmed in by Myanmar, Bangladesh, Tripura, Assam, and Manipur, the Christian state can be reached by air where the nearest airport is situated in the capital city of Aiazwl where several airlines operate regularly. Since the state has yet to find place in the railway map, the nearest railhead is Silchar in Assam which is 6/7 hours straight drive. This is apart from a very convenient road network. National Highway No 54 connects the capital city via Shillong in Meghalaya and Guwahati in Assam.
