Chumpha Festival
Chumpa, the name of a harvest festival in Manipur beckons no less tourists to the north eastern state in December just after the Tangkhul Nagas reap the crops. The word “Chumpha” stands for opening of granary and the festival is celebrated in a big way in Ukhrul district and Somra hills. They share the joy of the festival for three days with much fanfare and extravaganza. Women have a great role in this festival where art and culture of the Tangkhul Nagas are preserved with care.
