Sakewa

Location

Sakewa is a notable festival in Sikkim. It belongs to the Kirat Rai Community which falls in mid April. Festivity begins on the full moon day and it is allowed to continue for nine days. Apart from traditional songs and dances, the festival comprises the worship of the earth. Popularly known as the Sakewa Puja, it is performed by the Nakchhong (priest) with the help of mongpas at a public place.
