SHILLONG: Come Tuesday. The fate of the nine candidates in the fray in the William Nagar assembly by polls will be decided as the counting will start from 8 in the morning.
The main contest is expected to confine to Deborah C Marak from Congress and NCP candidate Krenila Marak, the widow of Jonathone Sangma, who died in GNLA attack in the run up to the assembly polls.
The ruling National People's Party, the United Democratic Party and the BJP are also contesting the poll independently.
The NPP-led government has support of 34 legislators in the assembly while Congress 20 members in the 60 member assembly.
In addition to 19 NPP MLAs, UDP has 6 members along with 4 from PDP, 2 each from HSDP and BJP.
