Another MLA resigns in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: Yet another independent legislator quits the assembly on Wednesday hours before the Election Commission issued notification for the upcoming assembly polls slated for February 27.
He is none other than Rophul S. Marak, the independent MLA who has already sent his resignation to the Meghalaya Assembly Speaker. Sources say he is joining a party in a day or two where he would be allowed to contest.

With this, the 60-member assembly strength has come down to 43.
