Pre poll setback for Meghalaya Congress

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Congress received a moderate jolt as the electioneering is waiting to gather momentum as 115 middle rung party leaders have quit the ruling party.
These leaders and workers hail from two vital constituencies who were unhappy with the allotment of poll tickets.
Of these, 100 party members belong to Chokpot assembly seat in South Garo Hills district who are dead opposed to Lazarus Sangam as candidate.
Fifteen other Congress members hail from Jirang seat in Ri Bhoi district who are unhappy with Witness Syngkli whom the party has fielded in the polls slated for February 27.
