Thenzawl

The Green City, Mizoram

Thenzawl is a village located at a distance of 43 kilometers from Aizawl. It was initially a dense forest with  wild animals before it was cultivated and inhabited in 1961. Benghuaia Sailo established a village in 1963 in Thenzawl. Chief Kamlova's son, Lalngurchhina was the last chief of Thenzawl. Due to the March 1966 Mizo National Front uprising, Thenzawl was one of the village where people were grouped together in 1968. The Tropic of Cancer runs exactly through this picturesque village.

Thenzawl is an important center of the traditional Mizo handloom industry. The looms at Thenzawl produce rich and colorful varieties of weaves. At Thenzawl one can observe the indigenous weaving techniques of the Mizos and even buy the weaves at a bargain.

Vantawng Falls 
At 229 meters it is the 13th highest waterfalls in India located 5 kilometers south of Thenzawl in Serchhip district. It is about 30 kilometers from Serchhip and 137 kilometers from Aizawl.
 
Benkhuaia Thlan
The founder of Thenzawl Bengkhuaia invaded Alexandrapur in 1871 kidnapping Mary Winchester who brought about the British to Mizoram. He died ub 1879. Vaibiak is the place from where they took back Mary Winchester.
 
Tualvungi Thlan
There are two graves at Phulpui village in the Aizawl district of Mizoram India. It is said that, Zawlpala, Chief of Phulpui village, married the legendary beauty, Talvungi of Thenzawl. Talvungi was subsequently married to the chief of Rothai, Punthia. But, Talvungi could not forget Zawlpala, her previous husband. After many years when Zawlpala died, grief stricken Talvungi came to Phulpui, dug a pit by the side of Zawlpala's grave and asked an old woman to kill her and bury her in the grave.
 
Chawngchilhi Puk is a cave popular for a love story between a lady and a snake.
 
Tuirihiau is a beautiful waterfall near Thenzawl, upstream of Vantawng fall.
 
Thenzawl Deer Park has 17 deers (11 female and 6 male) in natural environment.
