Elephant in festival one of the crowd pulling event in the Kaziranga National Park in Assam which revs up eco-tourism in the north eastern state. Apart from striking the attention of the tourists, the event aims at making the people aware of the growing man-elephant conflict. Hundreds of elephants are deployed to share the joy in presence of many domestic and foreign elephant experts. Not even a single visitor or tourist remains unmoved when rows and rows of elephants join the catwalk.
The cultural procession of the elephants is a fascinating one which takes place for several hours covering a huge area in and around the national park. Other salient features of the festival include tug of war, race and football match much to the delight of thousands of exciting spectators. Really, festive spirit grips the elephants.
Herds of elephants can be found spread across the following landscapes - Karbi Anglong and Kaziranga apart from the northern bank of Brahmaputra and the Eastern Ghats of the Nilgiris.
