Reiek and Hmuifang Trek

30kms away from the western side of Aizawl city. This is one destination one should not miss to visit. It’s calling you to witness her exotic beauty. The gentle slope on the western side of the mountain is covered with virgin forest preserved since the day of the Mizo Chiefs. Reiek village lies at the base of the mountain while a Tourist Resort, offering comfortable stay, is located halfway up the mountain. Attached to the Resort is a typicalMizoVillageshowcasing treditional implements of the Mizo. For the adventurous, a trekking trail from the Resort leads to the peak of the Mountain.

Hmuifang mountain is one of much talked about mountains in Mizoram. It is located at 50kms away from state capital Aizawl. With an elevation of 1619mts above sea level. The mountain is still covered with virgin forest reserved. The mountain has beautiful cliffs and offers great views of the surrounding hills. The patches of grassy glades on the peak are also ideal for picnics and outdoor camping. From here, you may visit the five Mizo villages situated in the hill side – Hmuifang, Sumsuih, Lamchhip, Chamring and Sialsuk village to experience the rural life of the Mizos. Again to the nature lovers, the forests abound with fascinating varieties of flora and fauna.

Day 1

Meet & assist by our representative on arrival at Lengpui Airport.
Drive to Reiek Mountain.
Evening free at leisure.
Overnight at Tourist Resort Reiek.

Day 2

After Breakfast Hike Reiek Peak, 30mins uphill trek at leisure.
Visit Mizo typical village.
After Lunch Drive to Hmuifang Mountain/ Thenzawl.
Soft trek at Hmuifang site ( if time permit us).
Overnight stay at Tourist resort Hmuifang / Thenzawl.

Day 3

After breakfast Drive to Sialsuk Village.
Hike to Sialsuk tlang. ( Enjoy with scenic beauty of Sialsuk).
After Lunch Drive to Aizawl for over-night.
Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 4

After breakfast transfer to Lengpui Airport for onward journey.

Day 1

Pick up from Dimapur airport (200 mtrs.) and transfer to Kohima (1440 mtrs.) by surface transport to Hotel. 2 hours drive. Enroute stoppage at various markets, if willing. On arrival at Kohima, local sightseeing, if time permits, depending on the flight arrival time. Overnight at Kohima.

Day 2

Drive to Phesama village and after 3 hours trek, set up base camp by the side of the world biggest Rhododendron tree. This Rhododendron Tree is also listed in the genius book of world record. O/N Base camp.

Day 3

Early morning start the ascend to Mt. Japfu to get a panoramic view of the sun rise. Mt Japfu is located at an altitude of 3048 mtrs above sea level and is also the second highest mountain in Nagaland. After Brunch trek towards Dzoukou valley (2400 mtrs)- via Phesama route and set up camp.

Day 4

Morning-after breakfast, trek to Dzukou valley and spend the rest of the day exploring the verdant valley. O/N camp at Dzukou valley or tourist lodge.

Day 5

After breakfast, trek to Mt Tempfu, which has an altitude of more than 2850 mtrs. After lunch, start the descend towards Kohima via Viswema route. Transfer to Hotel. O/N Kohima

Day 6

Drive down to Dimapur for dropping at airport or spend some few relaxing days at a resort.

Day 1

Pickup from Dimapur and drive to Kohima (74 Kms. 2 hours drive) which is inhabited by the Angami Tribe. Visit to local markets and museum or world war cemetery, if time permits. Overnight Kohima. Kohima; The capital of Nagaland is inhabited by the Angami, Naga. This city has been founded by the erstwhile British Empire. This city is also well known for the 2nd world war battle, wherein the Japanese advance to India has been halted by the allied forces at Kohima. The world war-II cemetery in the heart of the town and other memorials still bears memory of valours and sacrifices. The local markets and museum offers you a vista to the varied culture and food habits of the Naga.

Day 2

Witness hornbill festival or visit Khonoma green village. O/n Kohima. Khonoma: This village is known for eco conservation managed by the village community and has been recognized by the Government and declared as a green village. The village has waged several wars with the Britishers who invaded the Naga hills in the 18th century. A walk through the village and visit to the morungs (Boys Dormitory) will give you an insight to the traditional lifestyle of the Angami Tribe. If time permit, a visit to the mithun sanctuary (unique specie of the Indian Gaur/Bison) is also suggested.

Day 3

Witness hornbill festival or visit Kigwema and Viswema village. A visit to the village offers you a view to the rural lifestyle that exist side by side alongwith modernization.

Day 4

Witness hornbill festival or local vist in and around Kohima and then drive down to Tuophema village in the afternoon. O/N Tuophema at tourist resort in traditional house.

Day 5

Tuophema to Mokochung enroute visit to Ungma or Longkhum village (Ao Tribe) via Wokha (Lotha Tribe). O/N Mokochung.

Day 6

Mokokchung to Mon-via-Assam. Mon is inhabited by the Konyak tribe who were fierce head hunters only some few years back. The Konyak are also known for their tattoos and metallurgical skill. O/N Mon

Day 7

Drive to Longwa and Tang Konyak villages. Longwa is located on the Indo-Myanmar boundary and this boundary bisects the Angh (Local King) residence. The Angh rules over many villages on both side of this International boundary. O/N Mon.

Day 8

Visit Chui village early in the morning and then drive down to Sibsagar, the ancient capital of the Ahom who rules over Assam for more than 600 years. O/N Sibasagar.

Day 9

Visit various monuments in and around Sibsagar. O/N Sibsagar or Dibrugarh

Day 10

Transfer to Airport for outgoing flight or extend your tour to other parts
