Petrol bombing in Shillong draws condemnation across NE

SHILLONG/ GUWAHATI:  The Meghalaya Electronic Media Association (MEMA) has condemned those behind a petrol bomb attack at the house of Shillong Times Editor Patricia Mukhim on Tuesday night.

In a statement  issued here on Wednesday, MEMA said, “one should come under attack in this society for simply doing their job. This kind of reckless criminality will not be tolerated."

“Ware concern about the growing violence against journalists who play a crucial role in enabling citizens to know what is happening around, to keep the public informed and to expose the misdeeds of the mighty & powerful,” said the journalists body.

On the other hand, the Assam Press Correspondent Union has strongly condemned the petrol bomb attack at the residence of prolific writer and journalist Patricia Mukhim in Shillong on Tuesday.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Assam Press Correspondent Union Central President Manoj Singh ,working President Mausam Jyoti  Baishya and Secretary general Hemanta Saikia said the incident has  given a bad hint of attack on the fourth pulled.

They further demanded immediate arrest of the miscreants involved in the incident.
