EC discusses poll preparedness in Meghalaya

The Election Commission is hunkering down with Meghalaya Chief Electoral Officer on Monday reviewing the preparation for the assembly polls early next year.

Electoral roll, security, introduction of a slew of new voting system are believed to have been dominating the crucial meeting. 

The current 60 member Meghalaya assembly term expires by April, 18 and before that the north eastern state will have to go to the polls early next year. 

The full bench of the country’s poll panel is scheduled to visit the state capital Shillong next month to finalize the preparations and schedule.
