Have you ever been to Moreh? Literally in Burmese language the word “moreh” stands for “I am tired.” The tiny place along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur strikes no less attention of the tourists and traders alike.
Inhibited by Chin, Kuki and Mizo people, the beautiful town in the princely always keeps throbbing with trans-border trade. The Mizo people here, mostly, believe that the entire huge plot earlier belonged to them in the name of Kabow Valley, a safe abode of some Tamil, Telugu, Bihari, Marwari and Pangals, Nepali, Naga, Meitei and Punjabi people. Within a short spell of time the town developed into a full fledged trans border point where the traders and tourists from many parts of the country and abroad throng Tamu inside the territory of Myanmar. A hassle-free entry into Tamu really boosts the Indo-Myanmar trans border trade and if these are allowed to continue, days are not far when Moreh would be the gateway to the south east Asian trade.
Moreh is said to have been bridging India and Myanmar where the spotlight falls on Kalewa, a famous spot in Sagaing Division of the neighbouring country. A dream rail link to Moreh would connect to the Myanmar railway system which could boost connectivity to China and Thailand.
Private vehicles are available from Imphal to reach the must see place in 6 hours. The trans-border trade town has many lodges for comfortable stay for the traders and tourists who have no less reasons to be impressed with the local products of Manipur and Sagaing in Myanmar.
