Heritage Park is spread over an area of twelve acre of land andis located at the centre of the city. It is on the northern side of Raj Bhawan on the Agartala-GBP Hospital road. This park was inaugurated on the 30th November 2012 by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister ofTripura,Manik Sarkar on 30th November, 2012.
Generally heritage parks represent the entire heritage tourism spots of thestate. It has nine major and important tourist spots and historical places of Tripura. They are represented here in the form of their miniaturesculpture. It can be regarded as a short brief of all famous tourism places of this state. A beautiful natural scenario greets the visitors in the form of abundant Eucalyptus trees at the entrance of the park. It is a place of peace and tranquility. Anybody can spend a couple of hours, even lonely. It is an unique idea by the Government of Tripura to entertain all the tourists as well as acknowlege the localitiesto know their state better and more comprehensively.
Entrance to the park has agrand gate constructed with depicting the rich tribal, nontribal mixed cultural heritage of Tripura. The park has three parts, viz. (i) mini-Tripura located in about three acre of land at the entrance, (ii) central area being raised as natural forest, and (iii) a plain table land with medicinal plants, herbs and shrubs. There is a walking track of 1.1 kilometer running along the periphery of the park.
The Heritage Park in Kunjaban is on the north of Agartala,opposite Malancha Niwas. The Niwas was formerly a royal guesthouse thathosted Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore who was close to the last four kings of Tripura and had visited the state seven times during his lifetime. So, tourists visiting this park can even have chance to take a glimpse of this Niwas of royal character.
