The Nagas are great musicians, singers and dancers with a great sense of rhythm. Wokha, the land of beautiful mountain ranges and rivers is also known for the vibrant dances and wonderful folk music. Wokha is home of the Lotha tribes, known for their songs and dances.
The Wokha district is situated in the mid western part of Nagaland (latitude of 26° '8' N and a longitude of 94° '18' E), adjacent to Sibsagar plain of Assam.Bounded by Mokokchung district in the north, Kohima in the south. Zunheboto in the East and the state of the Assam in the west, the major tourist spots in Wokha include Mount Tiyi,believed by all Nagas of being the abode of the departed souls.
The Liphanyan Governor’s Camp, is an ideal place for river rafting and angling.
Doyang is the largest river in the Wokha district. The Doyang Hydro Project, located across the Doyang River has become a major spot and important destination for ornithologists from the world over for the annual congregation of migratory Amur falcons. Doyang Reservoir is the largest roosting site of the birds on their migrating route.
