By road: From Kohima one can avail State Transport bus service to Mokokchung. The distance is about 162 kms on NH-61. One can also avail the shared taxi service which plies between Kohima and Mokokchung everyday excepting Sundays.

By rail:
Tourists to Mokokchung can avail train service to Mariani in Assam, which is the nearest town connected through railways. The distance to Mokokchung from here is 85 kms. Nagaland State Transport operates regular bus services from Mariani to Mokokchung at 7.00 in the morning. There is also shared taxi service from Mariani to Mokokchung which leaves Mariani at 6.30 in the morning.

From Dimapur: The road distance from the commercial hub of Nagaland (Dimapur) to Mokokchung is 212 Kms via Golaghat, Mariani.There are a number of buses belonging to both public and government which plies between Dimapur and Mokokchung besides shared Taxi service. One can avail any of the above services to reach Mokokchung.The journey time is about 8 hours by bus and 6 hours by shared Taxi.

By Air:
One can either fly up to Jorhat(Assam) or Dimapur(Nagaland) and take the services as explained above by Roadways to reach Mokokchung.The distance from Jorhat to Mokokchung is 105 Kms via Mariani.

It is also issued by Deputy Commissioners of Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung.

Foreign Tourists must obtain Protected Area Permit (PAP). They are allowed to visit the eleven district headquarters and specified place for a period of thirty days. Married couples and a group of four (4) persons or more permit can be issued from Resident Commissioner office, Nagaland House, Delhi, Home Commissioner and Commissioner Secretary to Tourism, Govt. of Nagaland. But for individual/two persons or three persons have to obtain PAP from Ministry Of Home Affairs.

However, Nationals of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, China and Myanmer have to get prior approval from Ministry of Home Affair, Govt. of India.
