Sella Pass

Arunachal Pradesh, the name of a beautiful natural zone of the north eastern part of India is full tourists spots. Umpteen numbers of explored and unexplored spots of interest have drawn millions of domestic and foreign tourists in each year helping the state to strike a handsome amount as revenue.

Sela Pass is one of the most visited tourist spots of the state where cloud kisses the blue hills. The mountain pass which falls in Tawang district atop 13,700 feet connects the Buddhist city of Tawang town to Tezpur and Guwahati. Sela pass is situated at a distance of 78 km away from Tawang which is 340 km far from Guwahati, the gateway to the north eastern region. The beautiful pass remains snow covered in season and out of season where the temperature falls to -10 degree during the winter season. That’s the real heavenly view of the eastern range in the Himalayas. The spot is believed to have 101 lakes and each of the lakes bore significance for the Buddhist people. Sela Pass is situated very close to the Sela lake. The lake is called a paradise lake because of its enchanting natural beauty which freezes in winter. You can take a great glimpse of the rivers originating from the lake and groups of yaks grazing around it.

Sela Pass remains opened  throughout the year if no incident of landslide takes place. Snowfalls takes place in Sela Pass. But it never forces the closure of the spot. This is the main route to Tawang town.

The nearest airport is Tezpur from where you can travel to Sela Pass and Tawang by Sumo and taxi services via  Bhalukpung.
 
The journey to Tawang or Sela Pass is refreshing to be surrounded by cotton candy clouds that descends to the earth not to speak of the spreading grasslands with blooming flowers and chirping colourful birds.
