Often referred to as the “Mini Kaziranga National Park”, Orang National Park, the oldest Game Reserve, is situated in the north bank of the river Brahmaputra in the Darrang and Sonitpur Districts of Assam. Known for its striking natural beauty and the spectacular landscapes, the Park attracts many tourists from all around the world. It takes pride in its rich flora and fauna. The Park is also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park.
The thick grasslands provide a perfect home for animals like the one-horned rhinoceros, elephant, the endangered pygmy hog, tiger, swamp deer, wild buffalo etc. The park is host to a variety of migratory birds, water birds, predators, game birds. Some of the birds which are seen in the Park are spot-billed pelican, milky American white pelican, Bengal florican, black necked stork etc.‘Elephant Safari’ and ‘Jeep Safari’, can be taken amidst the dense forests with an expert guide.
